Engagement Party Dresses, Part 1

Hi friends! I hope you have all been doing well. It's been a while since I've posted but I'm been doing some extreme relaxing (AKA being a potato...) at home ~ especially after that brutal finals grind I had  - yikes! I had a small grade scare last week but thank goodness it's been fixed. My grades weren't as good as what I had hoped they would be, but they are good nonetheless so I can't complain. Also, my laptop is officially fried. It gave it's last breath literally the day after I came home from school. Rest in peace, dear laptop; you shall be sorely missed...especially since I'm using an extremely slow desktop computer!

Christmas is in just two days! Does anyone feel like the holiday spirit hasn't really kicked in? Or is that just me? I can't believe it's almost Christmas. It really doesn't feel like it. Also, tomorrow my Papa's birthday so I'm very excited!

Today's review is going to be a two part Engagement Party Dresses review! I am so honored to be invited to my friend's engagement party on Saturday so I took that as an opportunity to order some cute dresses off Romwe Today's review is on the red trapeze lace dressRomwe is a really amazing online store with a huge selection of clothes and accessories. They are currently having a mega Christmas blowout sale: 55% off orders US $59+ (code: xmas55) and 60% off orders US $139+ (code: xmas60). The sale ends on Dec. 26th

Here is a picture of the dress as shown on their website:

I sent my order in on Dec. 9th and received a payment confirmation email on the same day! My package arrived on Dec. 20th! Very fast. As always it was securely wrapped.

The first thing I noticed about this dress was that it was shorter than the description. This is definitely not 89 cm long! I'm guessing it's about 82 cm, so I quickly realized that it would be a bit short on me especially because I'm 5'6 (167 cm).

The material of the dress is actually quite nice. I thought it would be flimsy but it's pretty sturdy. The top of the dress is a cute floral lace design and below that, I was happy to see that there was a slip underneath the dress. However, I did notice some loose threads at the bottom of the dress!

As you can see the dress is pretty short on me - just covering my bum. Obviously safety shorts are a must for this dress (or tights...).

And here's a view of the back. Overall, I do like the dress. I think it's a cute, fun, flirty dress. I love the vibrant red color and I think it looks nice especially when it's been so grey and cloudy these days. This dress is definitely a bit bolder than what I'd normally wear because of the back design but I gotta say, I really like it. I just wish it was longer and a bit looser (but that's probably my fault cus of my stomach fat lol). I had also thought the dress silhouette would be more...shift-y and have more material to swish around.

The verdict: would I wear this dress to the engagement party? It's a possibility. But considering that it is December and the party is happening mostly outside where it will be freezing, I'm leaning more heavily on no. It's a cute dress, don't get me wrong, but I don't want to be cold!

  2. I love the back of the dress, you look beautiful! I also always ordered L/XL from Romwe because their sizes always fluctuate and can be super short sometimes. I think this dress would be amazing for the New Year's parties.

    1. Thanks Nicole!!! Ikr!! I feel like L and XL are safe sizes cus their clothes are soooo tiny! Especially if you're a little taller ><
